Who we are
Who we are
Chelmsford Mencap is the voice of learning disability. Everything we do is about valuing and supporting people with a learning disability, and their families and carers.
We work in partnership with people with special needs, and all our services support people to live life as they choose. Our work includes:
- providing high-quality social activities for members aged 3 years plus
- providing respite for parents and carers
- providing subsidised family outings and events
- assisting with members welfare
We are an individual organisation and our work is shaped by what our members tell us about their needs and wishes.
Did You Know?
Many people think that the services we provide are run and organised by volunteers and whilst this is true in some respects the majority of people that work at Chelmsford Mencap are paid employees. Our annual staff bill is in the region of £85,000 a year, of which all of the money must be raised by us, through grants and fundraising events.
