Volunteer Support Workers Required

Daybreak Scheme & Daybreak Saturday Club

Chelmsford Mencap has several rewarding vacancies available during the Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays for both school children over the age of 13 years and experienced Support Workers who are working towards an NVQ Level 2 qualified in childcare.

You will be required to assist the children aged 3-18 years with learning difficulties with in-house activities and outings  to help them achieve a greater level of independence.

All out-of-pocket expenses paid, free Enhanced CRB check and training provided as necessary.

Chelmsford Mencap has several rewarding vacancies available term time for both children over the age of 15 years and experienced Support Workers who are NVQ Level 1 qualified in childcare.

You will be required to assist the children and young adults aged 16-25 years with learning difficulties with in-house activities to help them achieve a greater level of independence.

Adult Adventurers’ Club

You will be required to assist adults over the age of 19 years with learning difficulties with in-house activities and outings  to help them achieve a greater level of independence.

Fundraisers Required (Home Based)

Chelmsford Mencap has several rewarding volunteer vacancies available for enthusiastic professionals, who would be able to assist the Charity Manager in completing grant funding applications to help with the Charities day-to-day running costs.

Working hours are flexible and all out-of-pocket expenses paid, free Enhanced CRB check and training provided as necessary.

Chairman

We are looking for a Chair to lead the board as we move through the next stage of development and raising the profile of the Charity.  You’ll have a personable character, be well known and respected within the Chelmsford Community and have significant experience of providing strategic leadership and possess strong chairing skills.  Experience of the charity sector is desirable but not essential.   This position would suit a working professional looking to further their career.  

Committee Meetings are held on a bi-monthly basis at 7.30pm, with occasional Management Meetings throughout the year.

The appointment would initially be for a one year term of office beginning in March 2011 at the Charity’s AGM, with a further one year extension by mutual agreement and election of the members.

The position is voluntary, subject to an enhanced CRB disclosure.  Expenses are paid, including mileage and telephone calls.

Treasurer

We are looking to replace our existing Treasurer who is retiring after 43 years of service at our AGM in 2011.  The position will involve working from the Mencap office a few hours a week and attending bi-monthly evening Committee meetings.  Experience of the charity sector is desirable but not essential.   This position would suit an Accountancy student (over the age of 18 years) looking to further their career or a retired professional.

The appointment would initially be for a one year term of office beginning in March 2011 at the Charity’s AGM, with a further one year extension by mutual agreement and election of the members.
